LADY GAGA GAVE VICTORIA'S SECRET MODELS THE SWEETEST GIFT AFTER THE SHOW

Lady Gaga Victoria's Secret show

Lady Gaga stole the show with her incredible performance on the Victoria's Secret runway in Paris this week, but the singer was just as popular backstage, too.

As well leading a rousing sing-a-long of her hit Million Reasons in the lead up to the show, Gaga also treated the Angels to a super sweet gift. According to VS Angel Lily Aldridge, Gaga congratulated all the models by presenting each of them with a rose at the end of the night.

Lady Gaga had the sweetest gifts for the models who walked in the 2016 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in Paris Wednesday.
In an interview with E! News, Lily Aldridge revealed that Mother Monster—who slayed each of her own performances that night—surprised them all with a thoughtful token after they completed their runway walks. "She waited for each of us to come back after the show and gave us each a personal rose!" Aldridge said of the Bachelor-esque presents.

As though we needed another reason to love Lady Gaga, we found one. Lady Gaga gave a gift to Victoria’s Secret models backstage the other day, each and every one of them, reported Brit + Co. Awwww. This is exactly why we love her.
Btw, we all get to see the 2016 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in just two days — which not only means fashion, but also Lady Gaga performing. ICYMI, Lady Gaga’s fifth album, “Joanne,” came out recently. If you haven’t listened to it yet, do it right now. Well, after you read this piece, that is.
So, the above explains why Lady Gaga was just chumming it up with 51 Victoria’s Secret models.
“She really fits right in with us,” Alessandria Ambrosio told E! News of Lady Gaga. And there’s proof. Just look at this Insta post.

Well, now us freaks have another excuse to blow an entire paycheck at Victoria’s Secret. Lady Gaga has been an inspiration to me since high school and she’s been an inspiration to a lot of other women. She makes me proud to be weird. Because, baby, I was born this way.
There wasn’t much weird about her performance in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. That is, besides her crazy heels. Honestly, how does she walk in those? Well, weird is as weird does. And she is pretty weird and that’s the number one reason why we love her.
Lady Gaga attends the promotional event for her new album 'Joanne' at the The Ritz-Carlton in Tokyo, Japan.
The word is that Gaga fit right in with the Victoria’s secret angels. And rightly so, she is an angel and an absolute doll. As a thank you to the Victoria’s Secret Angels, she gave each of them a personal rose after the show. Isn’t she just the sweetest pop star you’ve ever heard of?
Lady Gaga is the kind of celebrity you hope to meet some day. She’s the kind of star you can be less nervous about meeting because you know she’s going to be super cool. Not to mention super sweet.
Take a look at these photos from the show and let us know what you think.

Olivia Palermo x Chelsea28 Fall 2016 Collection: First Look

Fashion

Olivia Palermo’s Chelsea28 fall 2016 collection for Nordstrom is finally here, and a single look at it will cheerfully overwhelm you with cool, Seventies-inspired vibes! As we browse through the Olivia Palermo x Chelsea28 fall 2016 line-up, we can’t help but get instantly smitten by Olivia’s unique style mixture of nostalgic boho-chic vibes and more contemporary lines, the refined cuts of which greatly live up to the sophisticated Chelsea28 name.

Olivia Palermo x Chelsea28 Fall 2016 Collection

When Olivia Palermo announced her fall 2016 four-part collaboration with Nordstrom’s label Chelsea28 earlier this year, those who love the It-girl’s edgy style began counting the days until autumn, as they knew the pieces were going to be too cool to handle. Unsurprisingly, the garments are cool and covetable indeed.

When combining different patterns together, Palermo particularly focused on rich colors, as she specifically wanted to embody all the things that come along with the fall season, namely new projects, new stages in life, and new perspectives and anticipations.

When asked by Harper’s Baazar about the inspiration behind the collection, Palermo explained she and those at Chelsea28 Studio “wanted to continue to play with styles that layer or mix and match easily according to your personal taste. We definitely continued with the 70’s feel of the spring collection but added fall colors and elements like tie necklines that you can play with in different ways to have a retro or modern feel”.

Olivia Palermo x Chelsea28 Fall 2016 Collection

The collection thus plays with versatility and different attitudes, with pieces that not only explore all of the autumnal-inspired patterns and themes, but also different styles, such as more conventionally feminine, as well as more androgynous looks. Floor-length layered frocks get alternated with modernized pinstripe suits, while cropped billowy culottes get combined with uber-delicate butterfly-sleeve tunics and mannish Oxford shoes.

To further emphasize the duality of the collection, Olivia Palermo took the time to study and experiment with fabrics, often mixing them together trying to either lighten up or darken the overall outfits.

“Texture was also key. We loved pairing light, romantic elements like ruffles and lace with edgy leather or menswear-inspired tailored pieces. Materials like chiffon have a lot of movement and add an extra-pretty element to balance the menswear styles,” she continued.

As for the volumes, for this Olivia Palermo x Chelsea28 fall 2016 collection she chose to greatly vary in style depending on the single outfit’s designed motif. While the casual-chic proposals got revamped with airy and cozy lines, often translated to bell-bottom jeans and blouses with plunging V-necklines, the more elegant staples feature sinuous lines that sensually hug the bodies, harmoniously baring large proportions of skin (unless worn with a plain white t-shirt underneath).

Palermo also adapted some of the pieces according to her signature style, so if you are looking for sharp, clean-cut lines and textured materials, this Chelsea 28 collection might be the right thing to check out.

The price tags of the Olivia Palermo x Chelsea28 fall 2016 collection pieces range from $79 to $499, and the line will be available for purchase at Nordstrom stores and online at Nordstrom.com starting from tomorrow, September 6th.

The Highest Paid Supermodels of 2016 According to Forbes

Fashion

Being obsessed with Forbes’ charts is something I deal with yearly, and I could scarcely keep a firm grip on my emotions when the chart of the highest paid supermodels of 2016was finally revealed on Forbes a few hours ago. This specific chart is interesting indeed not only due to fashion-related reasons, but also because it is quite revealing for what concerns marketing, social media and the so-called ‘influencer phenomenon’ we have been talking about for a while now.

Highest Paid Supermodels of 2016

Though iconic supermodels such Gisele BündchenAdriana Lima and Karlie Klossunsurprisingly made it to the list, most of the highest paid models of 2016 have one thing in common – millions and millions of followers on their social media accounts, particularly on Instagram.

Sure, both Bündchen and Kloss are very active on Snapchat, Instagram and Twitter too, but their success on such social media is the result of their longtime career, while most of the highest paid supermodels of 2016 we are about to see on this list, sort of began (or improved) their career thanks to their enthusiastic social media followers.

Although they surely would hit it big anyways, such a phenomenon is something Forbes (un)directly enhances and analyzes throughout its article regarding the world’s highest paid supermodels of 2016 (the word ‘insta-famous’ comes a few times within its paragraphs), and we also find it extremely interesting.

The list, however, also reveals a sad phenomenon we should all start talking about, and that’s the fashion’s industry worrying lack of diversity. Regarding this, Natalie Robehmed, a staff writer at Forbes, told the Independent: “The majority of the list is overwhelmingly white, which reflects the lack of diversity in campaigns.”

Then again, Forbes’s list of the highest paid supermodel of 2016 will make us giddy, and for various reasons! Here is the top 10 chart:

#1. Gisele Bündchen

The Brazilian supermodel, now 36, has topped the list for 14 years in a row now, earning around $30,500,000 this year. Speaking of a successful career!

#2. Adriana Lima

One of Bündchen’s dearest colleagues and fashion veterans, Lima earned $10.5 million in 2016.

#3. Kendall Jenner and Karlie Kloss

Two models got awarded with Forbes’ bronze medal this time around, namely Kendall Jenner and coder Karlie Kloss. The beauties earned $10 million in 2016.

#4. Gigi Hadid and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

Like BFFs Jenner and Kloss, Gigi Hadid and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley made it to the list with $9 million earned in 2016 (#squadgoals).

#5. Cara Delevingne

It has been an intense year for Suicide Squad’s Cara Delevingne, who has been vocal about her depression and contrasting feelings towards the fashion industry since the beginning of the year. As for her overall earnings, she waves 2016 goodbye with $8.5 million earned.

#6. Candice Swanepoel and Liu Wen

(Very) soon-to-be mom Candice Swanepoel and Chinese beauty Liu Wen both earned $7 million this year.

#7. Miranda Kerr

#8. Natalia Vodianova and Lara Stone

#10. Joan Smalls

Last but not least, Puerto Rican model Smalls comes at the 10th position with a grand total of 4.5 million earned in 2016.

MUST READ: RUMORS OF A REI KAWAKUBO COSTUME INSTITUTE EXHIBITION, ALEXANDER MCQUEEN & ISABELLA BLOW MOVIE IN DEVELOPMENT

Fashion

Sources say  will be the focus of the Costume Institute's spring exhibition
The enigmatic designer and woman behind  will reportedly be the sole subject next spring. It would mark only the second time a living designer has been honored by the museum with a solo exhibition, after a Yves Saint Laurent show in 1983. A Met spokeswoman declined comment to WWD.

 film is happening
A movie depicting the relationship between the late British designer and his muse, the late fashion editor Isabella Blow, is in the works. Entitled "The Ripper," the film will document the tumultuous friendship between the designer and the fashion editor, and will be produced by Maven Pictures with Gesha-Marie Bland as screenwriter. The iconic duo frequently collaborated together and continue to be recognized for their contributions to the industry.

That's right: Barbie is an #influencer
Sponsored Instagram posts have become a recently and, as it turns out, America's favorite doll is cashing in, too. Do a quick scroll through @barbiestyle and you'll find  first ever #sponcon posts, featuring a blowout courtesy of Dyson Hair (yep, complete with a Barbie-sized Supersonic and everything) and a Dyson-sponsored trip to Hawaii. Barbie is making the most out of its (her?) 1.5 million followers by working with a team of designers to create custom outfits and employing both an in-house marketing team and a top fashion publicity firm to build partner relationships.

Lily-Rose Depp's Chanel No. 5 teasers are here
In a series of two 10-second teaser clips,  the face of the newest fragrance addition to the family, touts the tagline for the new scent, "You know me, and you don't," while looking positively mysterieuse. The film campaign was directed by Swedish filmmaker Johan Renck and full-length videos will hit the internet later this year.

Would You Wear... a Vinyl Trench Coat?

Fashion

All runway images courtesy of Elle. (L-R): Christian Dior F/W '16 RTW, Lanvin F/W '16 RTW, Proenza Schoulder F/W '16 RTW

It's all in the art of trickle down fashion-nomics. Trends start at the top on the runways, then move to high-end boutiques, then to department stores, and finally to our favorite shops. Unfortunately the vinyl trench coat trend is still hanging out around the top, but it's only a matter of time until we can get our paws on a reasonably-priced one.

Vinyl trenches are like the child of Harriet the Spy and Catwoman. It's undeniable: wearing one will make you feel like an incredibly cool and stylish secret agent. (And what could be better than that, really?)
